“Fight for Earth” Day Retreat and Spring Festival
The Diocese’s Creation Care Community is inviting all to observe Earth Day this year at the Mercer School on Saturday, May 3.
After breakfast from around 8:30, the day officially starts at 9:30 when we join Bishop Provenzano for Morning Prayer. The rest of the morning will be a Creation Care retreat, where we explore the many ways we can take action on behalf of the earth. Lunch and fellowship from 12:30 rounds out the first part of the day.
After lunch, we move outdoors from 1:30 for a Spring Festival, including a Rogation procession around the grounds; a health fair; beekeeping demonstration; arts and crafts; and a workshop on foam-free flower arranging. Participants can attend either morning or afternoon, or both.
Young people are especially welcome, and there will be targeted activities for them. Students can earn volunteer credits through the Diocesan Youth and Young Adults ministry, who will be part of the agenda.
As the environmental crisis deepens, and the leadership of our nation seeks to undo the progress that has been made in addressing that crisis, “Fight for Earth” Day will give us all a much-needed time for reflection, for spiritual refreshment, and new energy for all the “good works that God has prepared for us to walk in.”
The day’s program is completely free, including meals. For more information speak with Canon Alleyne or email creationcare@dioceseli.org. To register, click here.
