Join us on Thursday, January 12, 19, 26, & February 2, as Canon Michael Delaney, Diocesan Canon Precentor, leads us in an exploration of themes, patterns, and connections found in Cycle A of the Lectionary (from the Latin for “reading”). We opened the Gospel of Matthew on the first Sunday of Advent and will continue to tell Jesus’ story and the story of what it means to be a follower of Christ through the words of Matthew.
The readings assigned by the Church for Sunday morning Eucharists are based on patterns rooted in the early history of Christianity. Many Christian denominations follow the same three-year cycle of readings from the Old and New Testaments as we do, so that everyone is on the “same page” each Sunday morning.
