Boy Scout Troop 55 is supporting a local inpatient psychiatric unit for teens whose mental health difficulties prevent them from being safe in the home and community. The unit provides short-term treatment to help teens establish safety and be discharged with a good treatment plan to continue their work outside of the hospital. We are asking the community at large to assist with donations. Below are some of the items the unit can use:
Pop-its
Fuzzy socks
Slime jars
Scented hand/body lotions; small bottles of shampoo/conditioner (we have basic products but kids like nicer and scented stuff)
Washable fleece blankets
Drawing notebooks or journals
Non-toxic nail polish
Decorate your own water bottle
Fun hair ties
Soft fidget toys
Fun chalk
Temporary tattoos
3D puzzles
Video games for Xbox, Wii, Play Station (appropriate for 14-16yo)
Children’s bowling set (i.e., lightweight)
Puzzles of assorted sizes (small for personal use and larger ones we can use for whole unit)
Outdoor stuff: cornhole set, giant tic tac toe
Regular playing cards and other types of card games (e.g., Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, Bingo, Uno Uno Attack)
Board games (specifically requested Chess, Monopoly)
Tie-dye kits and white t-shirts (we have 22 kids at a time)
Fabric markers and white t shirts (we have 22 kids at a time)
Any donations will be welcome! Please contact Chris Scott with any questions.
