As Christians seeking to transform ourselves, our Christian community, our towns, states and by extension, the world, our ministry will seek to create space for God to work through us as we engage in a wide range of activities geared toward social justice. This group is committed to offering individuals grounded in faith, hope and love - opportunities throughout the year to work toward healing, justice and reconciliation while transforming lives near and far.
The Social Justice Ministry Group formed after the death of George Floyd to provide an opportunity for individuals to come together in a safe space, with fellow Christians to speak honestly about where each person finds themselves in the midst of trying times of injustice. In addition, members work together to learn, discern and then move to act in a way that individuals feel called to serve the communities around us.
This Sunday marks the anniversary of the “I Have a Dream“ speech https://www.npr.org/2010/01/18/122701268/i-have-a-dream-speech-in-its-entirety given by Martin Luther King, Jr. during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963. This was a defining moment in the civil rights movement with still much more to achieve in this country with regard to freedom and equality.
Look for invitations on Realm to engage with this ministry throughout the upcoming program year and feel free to join this ministry if you feel called to do so.
